FAQ

Who can apply for a financial grant?

Anyone, as long as you or your partner are a U.S. Citizen residing in the U.S. and if seeking fertility treatment, must be by a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist (REI) in the United States. You must be able to demonstrate that you can provide a stable home environment for the child while demonstrating that you are facing significant financial obstacles and need financial assistance with building your family.

What is the Journey to Parenthood Grant?

We are a charitable organization dedicated to helping couples and/or individuals build families through advanced fertility treatments such as IUI, IVF, egg donation, and surrogacy as well as adoption (private, foster care, domestic or international)

How many and how often are grants awarded?

The number and amount of each grant will vary based upon availability of funds. Our goal is to distribute a $10,000 grant at least once annually. Our annual fundraiser is in August and our grant(s) are typically awarded by late November. The amount of grant money and # of grants awarded solely depends on our ability to raise the funds within that year.

How will the grant monies be distributed?

JTP will send the grant monies directly to the recipient’s fertility clinic, pharmacy or adoption agency.

What costs are actually covered by the grant?

The grant can be used to cover any expenses associated with IUI, IVF, egg donation, surrogacy or adoption. Clients who have medical insurance coverage for the various fertility treatments or medicines will be required to submit all medical claims to their provider first.

How quickly must the grant be used?

Once approved for the grant, arrangements for use must be made within 12 months of when the grant is awarded

Is there an annual minimum or maximum income?

No. The cost of living in different areas of the United States varies so drastically, no specific income figure is relevant for all people. In all cases, tax returns and pertinent information must reflect an ability to support a child financially.

Can I apply more than once?

There is no limit to the number of times someone can apply. However, because medical circumstances can change monthly, applicants must submit a new form for each round of consideration. There is a one-time non-refundable application fee of $50.

Does Journey to Parenthood reimburse applicants for procedures already performed?

No, JTP will not cover expenses that have already been incurred.

Can I apply if we already have children?

Yes, but the committee will take into consideration current family size.

How do you make your grant recipient decisions?

Once all completed applications are received by our submission deadline they will be presented to our board of directors. We will notify all applicants within 2-3 weeks after the application deadline that we are in receipt of your application for the upcoming grant and will let you know the timeframe of when an applicant will be chosen (typically by the end of November). The board will review the applications and all the information submitted and make a final decision. All sections of the application will be taken into consideration.

What does JTP do with my application after the grant is awarded?

We will shred your application immediately after a grant has been awarded for that cycle. We do not have the means to hold onto numerous applications and understand the privacy of information within the application.
